About me

I am a research professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of South Africa (UNISA). I also hold the UNESCO Co-chair in Early Education, Care and Development. The National Research Foundation in South Africa has recognised me as a rated researcher for early childhood.  My thematic focus is on Early Childhood at the Margins with special reference to early childhood policy, practice and workforce development. I have a track record of pushing the boundaries of knowledge in early childhood. This has earned me women in research leadership awards. I serve as the knowledge convener in the ECD Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA) cluster in the African Union The cluster is hosted by the African Early Childhood Network.
